Principles and Policies
Our principles and policies reflect how we work and what we stand for, shaping our approach to responsibility, transparency, safety, and ethical practice.
Impact Policy
Hoose exists to build regenerative homes that deliver measurable environmental, social, and long-term economic value. Our approach goes beyond simply doing less harm. We design, build, and operate in ways that actively restore ecological systems, support human wellbeing, and strengthen communities over time.
Impact is not treated as a separate initiative. It is embedded across the full life of each project, from early design and procurement through construction, handover, and long-term use.
Environmental impact is a central part of this work. Homes are designed as carbon-storing assets wherever possible, with a strong emphasis on biogenic materials and low embodied carbon construction systems. Operational energy demand is reduced through fabric-first design, passive strategies, and efficient building services, helping to lower running costs and long-term emissions.
Material choices are made using lifecycle thinking, considering extraction, manufacture, transport, use, and end-of-life. Construction waste is minimised through careful design, accurate specification, and responsible site practices. Where viable, reuse, take-back schemes, and circular supply chains are prioritised. Biodiversity and landscape regeneration are considered early in the design process and treated as integral to site strategy rather than an afterthought.
Homes also have a profound influence on health, comfort, and quality of life. For this reason, internal environments are designed with careful attention to daylight, air quality, thermal comfort, acoustics, and connection to nature. The client journey is approached with clarity and care, aiming to build trust, reduce stress, and support informed decision making throughout the process.
Where possible, local skills, trades, and supply networks are supported, helping to strengthen regional economies. Knowledge is actively shared to contribute to wider understanding and uptake of regenerative building practices across the industry.
Impact performance is reviewed annually against defined indicators, including carbon, energy, materials, and wellbeing. We are open about trade-offs and limitations, not just successes. This policy is reviewed regularly and updated as standards, technology, and learning continue to evolve.
