Principles and Policies

Our principles and policies reflect how we work and what we stand for, shaping our approach to responsibility, transparency, safety, and ethical practice.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

his policy explains how Hoose uses artificial intelligence and digital automation tools in a responsible, transparent, and accountable way. As a regenerative construction company, we recognise that technology can support efficiency, insight, and communication, but also that the homes we design and build have lasting impacts on people, places, and ecosystems. For that reason, artificial intelligence is used to assist our work, not to replace professional judgement, ethical responsibility, or human decision-making.

Hoose understands responsible AI use as the careful application of digital tools to support informed decision-making and reduce administrative burden, while maintaining clear human oversight at all times. Artificial intelligence may be used to support research, early-stage feasibility exploration, data organisation, document drafting, and internal workflow efficiency. AI is not used to make autonomous decisions relating to design, safety, environmental performance, contractual matters, or client outcomes. All final decisions remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified professionals within Hoose.

Human oversight remains central to all uses of artificial intelligence. AI tools may inform or support professional thinking, but they do not replace expertise, accountability, or ethical judgement. Decisions that affect safety, cost, sustainability, compliance, or wellbeing are always human-led. Where artificial intelligence makes a meaningful contribution to analysis or communication, its role is acknowledged openly and honestly.

Protecting data is a core responsibility. Hoose does not knowingly use confidential client information, sensitive project data, or personal data to train or externally share artificial intelligence systems. All use of AI tools complies with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.

Accuracy and integrity are essential. Outputs generated using artificial intelligence are reviewed for accuracy, relevance, and potential bias before being relied upon or shared. We recognise that AI systems can produce incomplete or incorrect information, and professional judgement is always applied before any conclusions are drawn or actions taken.

Hoose remains mindful of the environmental impact of digital systems and seeks to use technology proportionately, focusing on tools that provide clear value rather than unnecessary complexity or overuse.

Artificial intelligence introduces evolving risks, including data misuse, bias, misinformation, and overreliance on automation. To manage these risks, Hoose restricts AI use to appropriate internal applications, reviews tools before adoption, provides guidance to team members on responsible usage, and monitors regulatory developments in the UK. Where uncertainty exists, caution and human oversight take precedence.

Artificial intelligence technologies and regulatory frameworks continue to develop rapidly. This policy is reviewed regularly to reflect changes in law, best practice, and understanding. Our aim is not to adopt technology for its own sake, but to use it thoughtfully and responsibly in ways that support regenerative outcomes, professional integrity, and long-term accountability.
